It’s been estimated that Transgender people are twice as likely to think about and attempt suicide as LGB people.  The suicide rates for Transgender people are far, far higher than the national averages in most countries.  It’s difficult to know exactly though, because gender identity is not normally recorded on death certificates. However, in the United States, a survey carried out in 2015 by the National Center for Transgender Equality showed that around 40% of adults who took part reported having attempted suicide at some stage in their lifetime.  That’s nearly nine times the normal rate of attempted suicide among the general US population. We want all of our members to stay safe and the good news is that there are many good people out there who are able to help those of us who are feeling so depressed that we just want it all to stop.  This is fixable.  We just need to allow others to help. Below is a list of mainly support hotlines for several English speaking countries which are generally where our members come from.  Most are able to offer additional support and resources in each of their respective countries.   I want you to promise me that if you ever find that you can’t cope, that you will try calling one of these hotlines before you do anything silly. Hi gang, as you know we are constantly trying to improve everything about Transtastic but it's an ongoing job, a bit like painting the Sydney Harbour Bridge.  It never stops. We have not been idle in the last week.  Apart from fixing a few annoying little bugs we also attempted to install our new Safe Feed system which should prevent Adult pics from appearing in the activity Feed on our main logged-in page for those who have selected the moderated feed.Unfortunately, the new code gobbled up all of our server's memory and made it crash so it was removed and the developers are now trying to figure out what went wrong.  Hopefully, they will have it fixed in the next few days. And in the last few hours we attempted to upgrade our PHP version from 5.x to 7.1.  That should make the site faster all round and reduce page load times by quite a lot. However, it appears that some things on the site are not compliant with PHP 7.1 and a number of features (like the chat room) have simply stopped working.  We'll need to go through each one in turn and fix whatever is wrong. Sorry, it may take a few days. Don't you hate computers! On the upside, our pages should now be loading much faster than before though. Please bear with us while this important work takes place and things will be better on the other side. Hugs,Katie   :)

Only four people have subscribed to help us keep Transtastic going since I posted our plea for support about a month ago.  That is quite shameful and I am very disappointed with the response.  Very few of our members who use this site regularly and who are online almost every day have stepped up to help.  We are very much in the red right now and do not make anything like enough each month, to come even close to covering our costs.  Unless more members help soon, by clicking the subscribe button near the top of the page, Transtastic's future will be very uncertain.  Please help us to continue by donating the price of a one cup of coffee a week. Please click the button below now to show your support for Transtastic    Option 1 : £10.00 GBP - monthly Option 2 : £15.00 GBP - monthly Option 3 : £20.00 GBP - monthly

Most of our upgrade is now complete. There are still some new moderators tools to come but nearly all of our front end stuff is done.  Hooorah!  It was quite a painful upgrade but now our pages are loading in around 5 or 6 seconds and the main page in around 10 or 12 seconds.  That's pretty good.  We also have many new features and benefits for you.In the coming days and weeks we will try to make the site even faster by moving up to PHP 7 and tweaking a few more things.  Thanks for bearing with us while the upgrade took place.  Now dive into your new and better Transtastic and don't forget to ask your friends to come and join us here too!

Apologies if you experienced any disruption at Transtastic recently.  As we explained, we have had the builders in.  They've been replacing some of our old software with new stuff and adding new functionality too.   The picture above shows the old server room at Transtastic Towers.  When the work is complete we will have some amazing new stuff though and the site will be pretty damn fast.  We recently clocked our main page loading time at around 7 seconds.  That was really good and there’s room for further improvement on that too.  However, it seems to have gotten a bit slower again.  We're still working on it though. For those who are a bit geeky, we tried to make the leap to PHP 7 which apparently runs at twice the speed of its predecessors.  However, that completely broke the site and when we rolled back to the previous version, the main page was taking up to four minutes to load.  It took our developers several days to figure out what the problem was during which time you must have been really cross that your Transtastic was running at a snail's pace.  In the end it turned out to be partly down to a MySQL prob.  As soon as it was fixed, the pages started loading fast again. Next we moved on to the main event - upgrading our Albums, fixing the Safe activity feed (which was not working properly and still letting cockshots through) and installing automated AI-based image moderation for profile picture uploads.   That work is still ongoing and it seems to have caused a fair bit of disruption on its own, so sorry again for that. I hope it won't take too much longer and that we will soon have a site which is blisteringly fast and totally brilliant. When that day comes I will let you know that the work is complete and I will then need to ask for your help in mounting the biggest marketing campaign Transtastic has ever undertaken. Till then, thanks for your patience and keep the faith. Hugs, Katie   :)

Just a quick update on our ongoing software upgrades.  Many of the programs we use on this site are in the throes of being updated to their latest versions (we've got over fifty of them).  That in itself should give us a faster, more stable site with fewer bugs.  There was a problem with registration in the last few days which prevented new members from signing up.  That has now been fixed.  Sorry if you were affected. You may have noticed that we now have a new Wall on the main page (or Activity Feed).  It is far, far superior to the one we had before but there are a few little teething problems with the way photos are displayed right now (some get a bit squashed up).  We're working on that however.Next week the developers will install brand new Photo Albums software at great expense but it has to be done. We're going to replace the current Albums with a better program from another company which I've dealt with many, many times in the past.  They are a bit pricey but their work is, in my opinion, far better. They will also be writing us some custom code which will bridge the Albums and the new Wall software (which was also written by them).  This custom code will prevent photos in Adult category albums from being displayed in the activity feed if you have selected the Safe Feed option, even if they are 'Liked' or shared.Furthermore, I have taken on another developer, called Ivan, to write some code that will connect our profile photo upload process to an Artificial Intelligence based photo moderator.  Hopefully, once that is in place, if a user uploads a profile which contains nudity or genitals it will be automatically rejected and they will be told there and then that their photo does not comply with our terms of service. These changes should make our mods lives much easier and allow them to concentrate more on other things. We will also most probably be the world's first online Transgender community to use AI.  That's exciting, isn't it?  Well I think it is.So there we are, the software is all getting better and I'm getting poorer.  Don't forget that you can donate to Transtastic to help keep us afloat  by going to https://transtastic.com/se4/pages/donation.  If you like what we're doing here and you enjoy being a member then please dig deep and help us to keep going. Thanks and hugs,Katie   :)

Oh look, those are my pretty fingers and lovely painted nails holding that phone.  Well actually they're not.  Just some wishful thinking on my part there.  Just a few lines to let you all know about our progress over the last little while and what's in store in the coming months.  It's been a pretty rough ride over the last year or so, as we tackled a multitude of software bugs, updated old software and installed new features to make Transtastic better than ever. We think we have fixed the majority of the bugs now, although there are still a few which remain to be zapped.  We have also culled the membership from nearly 20,000 to a little under 6000.  We removed everyone who has not visited Transtastic in more than six months because we need active members here, not dormant accounts like they have on other membership sites.  Culled members can still come back though.  Their accounts are currently in a kind of Limbo area, waiting to be deleted permanently.  So if you know anyone who has not visited recently, please ask them to come back and recover their account while they can.About a month back we added a new Dating feature which has proved to be both popular with those who like dating and very unpopular with those who don't.  However, it's easy to opt out if you don't want to be involved.  Just click on Dating in the main menu and then, on the main dating page, click the Dating Settings link.  On the settings page just uncheck the box next to 'Include your profile in Dating search results' then click the Save button and you will no longer be included.  Simples!Going forward, there are many more improvements and new features on the cards.  If you'd like to help with the site and the community we'd love to hear from you.Perhaps you'd like to help with site moderation or perhaps you're a web developer who could contribute a bit of time to the cause.  If you have any special skills which you think might help please do get in touch.  Just drop me a line at contact@transtastic.com.  We also need all of our members to shout about Transtastic all around the web and persuade as many new people to join us as possible.  If you are a member of other Trans-related communities perhaps you could tell your friends there about us and bring them over to party. That's all for now but there will be more new stuff, new toys and new innovations to tell you about soon.  Now, dive into your Transtastic!Hugs, Katie   :)
