Hi gang, it's been something of a baptism of fire for me over the last few weeks.  Apart from dealing with a family bereavement, I've also been taking over the Transtastic reigns from Beckie Fox, who started this community and has done an amazing job at it.  She's going to be a hard act to follow. I s'pose taking over Transtastic is a bit like buying a used car.  When you first get it you really want to spend time and effort doing it up and making it lovely.  Transtastic is already lovely though so thanks Beckie, that makes my job much easier.   As you can see from the picture, we've already updated the Transtastic hardware with the latest computer technology.  There are a few software things that don't work right however (as the members have been happy to point out) but we will address them too and make them good once again. A difficult and expensive way to fix things like pictures that don't upload, would be to hire a programmer and let him discover what is causing the problem and then pay him to fix it.  To fix one little control like that could cost hundreds of dollars.  I think it would be much easier to replace older software packages that don't work right, with brand new ones that do and which are that are right up to date and offer more bells and whistles.  It would also be cheaper. We've started already.  People were moaning that their pics would not upload properly and that they couldn't upload at all from mobile devices.  So, we have installed a new photo albums package which should seamlessly replace the previous one.  It has fixed the bugs but it has also caused some new ones.  Beckie's clever piece of code that prevented Adult pics being included in the home page feeds of people who had expressly asked not to see them, needs to be rewritten to work with the new software.  Beckie is going to do that ASAP for us but in the meantime, the odd naughty picture may get into your activity feed, so apologies for that. We have plans to upgrade the Blogs (already working on that), the Forums and the Videos for starters so expect big changes for the better in those areas soon. Once the software is all working nice and everyone is happy, I want to organise some social events.   If you have any ideas then please do let me know. And if you want to help with the site let me know too.  We're going to need good people to moderate and keep the spammers out. Thanks and hugs, Katie   :)

Hi gang, in case you don't already know me, I'm Katie.  I've been Katie for as long as I can remember but owing to a cruel twist of fate I've had to pretend I'm a man in everyday situations, for many years.  I guess that's much like a lot of our stories.  If my circumstances were different, I would probably transition and be Katie all the time.  But hey! I work as a journalist, writing about gender issues, I'm the Editor of Frock Magazine and I occasionally write for The Independent newspaper.  I founded an online community (not unlike Transtastic) for crossdressers and transgender people in general, back in 1999.  It was called Trannyweb and it was very popular for many years.  When the word 'tranny' became toxic though, we changed the name to The Gender Society.  That is still running now. So, I was very flattered when Beckie Fox approached me and asked if I would take over Transtastic.  We have known each other for years and my magazine, Frock, has always been a big supporter of Sparkle, of which Beckie is a trustee.  We have worked together on marketing Sparkle in the past and I hope we will again in the future. Taking on a social network like Transtastic is a big responsibility and I am very aware of all the great things that Beckie has done for Transtastic in the past.  My intention is to not change anything at all unless we absolutely have to because I subscribe very much to the theory of 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. There are a few areas that do need some TLC though, as Beckie will be the first to tell you and we will try to address these over the next few weeks so that everything works the way you expect.  We will also give some areas a makeover to give them more of a wow factor. And remember, this is your community.  I have simply been entrusted with running it and keeping the software up to date so that everything keeps on working for you.  If you have any ideas for how you want your community to work in future, please do let me know. I'll disappear into the background again now but I might pop up again soon, with some crazy ideas for girly nights out at Pink Punters or The Wayout or somewhere closer to where you live. Thanks and hugs, Katie   :)

How do you get to Carnegie Hall?  You just gotta practice!  Well we've been working hard on upgrading Transtastic for a few weeks now and I think things are finally starting to come together so we're getting closer to Carnegie but there's still a way to go before we get to tread those famous boards.  We still have a number of problems that need addressing, many of which predate my arrival, but we'll get round to them.I think I mentioned before that I've paid for all the work, new software and other improvements that have already been carried out, from my own pocket and suggested that it would be nice if some of the members were to make a contribution, especially if they use the site a lot.  There is a 'Make a  Donation' button on the front page and the Donations page can also be accessed at but I'm sorry to report that so far not a single soul has donated a penny.  That's a bit disheartening.  So come on girls, dig deep and help your community by donating something towards its future today. Thanks, Katie  :)

Most of our upgrade is now complete. There are still some new moderators tools to come but nearly all of our front end stuff is done.  Hooorah!  It was quite a painful upgrade but now our pages are loading in around 5 or 6 seconds and the main page in around 10 or 12 seconds.  That's pretty good.  We also have many new features and benefits for you.In the coming days and weeks we will try to make the site even faster by moving up to PHP 7 and tweaking a few more things.  Thanks for bearing with us while the upgrade took place.  Now dive into your new and better Transtastic and don't forget to ask your friends to come and join us here too!
