I much preferred the era where people could meet online first but popular society told us we should NOT meet internet people offline ever. Those were the good days where you really got to know a person. Because so many people on the Internet shared their soul. Now the Internet is WHERE you meet people and it has become as phony as a bar. People have been convinced to be online who they are offline. Which defeats the purpose for me. The reason I met people online first was to really get to know them.
You can learn a lot from someone being open online instead of someone thinking they are open meeting offline at any bar or restaurant. Online they tell me their kinks, their secrets and things they are ashamed of. I'm not talking about jumping to some sexual conclusion, but people spilled ALL when I got to know them online before our first offline date.
That's why I prefer internet dating. And that sort of chemistry still exists, but not as much or like it used to.
I am definitely an advocate for online dating and meeting friends. Until I was about 25 years old did I make a friend offline. I never had friends in "real life" unless I had met them online first. Most everyone I knew of came from the internet. It's just how I preferred it. It's the only way people could get to know me and like me.
Even to this day I sometimes do not understand how to make friends offline and I can't believe so many people do. As far as love goes, I met both my husbands online and I don't think I have dated anyone offline without meeting them online first.
The internet has been the reason for ALL of my most meaningful long lasting relationships and friendships.
